Bengaluru police have arrested a Rapido bike taxi driver accused of molesting a woman software professional late last night. The incident, which unfolded in the bustling IT hub of India’s Silicon Valley, has sparked outrage among working women and calls for stricter safety measures on ride-hailing apps. The victim, a 28-year-old software engineer employed at a prominent tech firm in Whitefield, booked a Rapido ride around 11 PM from her office to her residence in Marathahalli. According to her complaint, the driver deviated from the designated route and began making lewd remarks shortly after picking her up. When she protested, he allegedly groped her, leading her to scream for help. Alert residents in the area rushed to her aid and detained the driver until police from the HAL police station arrived. The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, was taken into custody. Initial investigations revealed he has a prior record of similar offenses.
