NOIDA: In a decisive move to address mounting civic concerns, Noida Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari chaired a high-level review meeting on Wednesday, issuing stringent directives on water pollution control alongside other essential services. The session, attended by senior officials from various departments, underscored the urgency of tackling environmental degradation and service delivery gaps in the bustling urban hub.
Water pollution emerged as a focal point, with the CEO emphasizing immediate action against industrial effluents contaminating local water bodies. ‘No leniency will be tolerated; polluting units must install advanced treatment plants within deadlines or face closure,’ she declared. Officials were tasked with rigorous monitoring of Sector 62 and Phase 3 industrial areas, hotspots for untreated discharge.
Beyond environment, the meeting delved into power supply reliability, waste management efficiency, and road infrastructure upgrades. Instructions included accelerating smart city initiatives, ensuring 24/7 electricity in residential sectors, and launching door-to-door waste collection drives. The CEO warned of accountability measures for any lapses, signaling a zero-tolerance policy.
Stakeholders hailed the proactive stance, noting it aligns with Noida’s vision for sustainable growth. As the city expands with new townships and IT hubs, such interventions are vital. Follow-up reviews are scheduled bi-weekly, promising sustained momentum on these fronts. Residents can expect tangible improvements in the coming months, bolstering quality of life in this key NCR corridor.
