In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking and terrorism financing, Jammu Police has arrested another key accused linked to a sophisticated narco-terror network operating in the region. The operation, part of an ongoing crackdown, underscores the growing nexus between narcotics smuggling and terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The accused, identified as a mid-level operative, was apprehended during a targeted raid in the outskirts of Jammu city late last night. Police sources revealed that he was responsible for coordinating drug consignments from across the border, with proceeds funneled directly to terror outfits. Seized items included 15 kilograms of high-grade heroin, cash worth over Rs 2 crore, and digital devices containing incriminating communications.
This arrest marks the fifth in a series of busts that began two months ago when Jammu Police, in collaboration with central agencies, dismantled the core module of this network. The syndicate had been using remote mountainous terrains and local transport routes to smuggle contraband, evading detection for over a year.
Senior police officials hailed the operation as a ‘major success’ in disrupting terror financing. ‘Narco-terrorism remains a potent threat to our security fabric. Every arrest weakens their financial backbone,’ stated a top officer during a press briefing. Investigations are ongoing to uncover additional links, with raids continuing in multiple locations.
The development comes amid heightened security measures in the Union Territory, where authorities have intensified surveillance along the Line of Control. Community leaders have applauded the police action, urging continued vigilance against such hybrid threats. As the probe deepens, more revelations are expected, potentially leading to higher-profile captures.
