Kolkata erupted in political controversy today as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leveled explosive allegations against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The saffron party claims Banerjee attempted to meddle with ongoing Income Tax raids targeting her close associates, sparking demands for her immediate arrest.

Income Tax officials conducted sweeping raids on premises linked to Banerjee’s inner circle, including several business associates and party functionaries. Sources reveal that during these operations, Banerjee allegedly made frantic calls to top IT officials, pressuring them to halt the searches and tamely conclude the probes.
BJP leaders, led by state president Sukanta Majumdar, wasted no time in hitting back. ‘This is blatant abuse of power by a desperate leader facing corruption charges,’ Majumdar thundered at a press conference.
