In a major relief for epilepsy patients across India, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has rolled out free Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) tests. This groundbreaking initiative aims to revolutionize epilepsy care by ensuring patients receive optimal dosages of their medications.

Epilepsy affects millions in India, with many struggling to manage seizures due to improper drug levels in their blood. TDM tests measure the concentration of anti-epileptic drugs, allowing doctors to adjust prescriptions precisely. Previously, these tests were costly and inaccessible for most patients.

Dr. [Senior Neurologist], leading the program at AIIMS, explained, ‘Uncontrolled seizures often result from sub-therapeutic or toxic drug levels. Free TDM will help us tailor treatments, reducing hospital visits and improving quality of life.’

The service is now available at AIIMS New Delhi’s neurology outpatient department. Patients need only a valid prescription from their neurologist. Early data shows over 200 patients benefited in the first week alone.

This move aligns with India’s national epilepsy control program, which emphasizes affordable diagnostics. Experts predict similar initiatives in other AIIMS branches soon.

For epilepsy patients, this isn’t just a test—it’s a lifeline. As one grateful patient shared, ‘My seizures are finally under control. Thank you, AIIMS!’ The institute urges all epilepsy patients to consult their doctors about TDM testing.

With this step, AIIMS sets a new standard in public healthcare, proving that quality treatment need not come with a hefty price tag.
