Independent MP Pappu Yadav has strongly criticized the recent sloganeering incident at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Speaking on the controversy, Yadav emphasized that political struggles must be conducted within the bounds of dignity and decorum.
‘Struggles should remain within maryada (ethical limits). Resorting to low-level politics is absolutely wrong,’ Yadav stated, urging students and activists to uphold higher standards in their protests.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions at JNU, where heated exchanges and slogan-shouting have drawn widespread attention. Yadav’s comments highlight a call for mature political discourse on campus.
He further advised that while dissent is a democratic right, it should not degenerate into vulgarity or personal attacks. This stance has sparked discussions on the nature of student politics in India’s premier universities.
Yadav’s intervention seeks to promote responsible activism, reminding everyone that true change comes through principled efforts rather than divisive tactics.
