Palamu, India – The Palamu Police Department has launched an aggressive offensive against the illegal cultivation and trafficking of narcotic substances, marked by the destruction of a substantial opium crop. On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, police teams executed operations across multiple police station limits, effectively neutralizing drug production in the region.
The Manatu police station received specific tip-offs regarding a large opium farm in the wilder parts of Jhanti village. Acting decisively, the police reached the location and identified approximately 7 acres dedicated to opium cultivation. The young plants were systematically destroyed using tractors, a move that has created considerable apprehension among those involved in the illicit trade.
In the Pipratand police station’s jurisdiction, the police utilized advanced drone technology for a comprehensive aerial survey. This surveillance confirmed that there was no opium cultivation occurring in the area. A positive observation was made regarding a shift in agricultural practices, with farmers in previously problematic zones now cultivating legitimate crops like pulses and oilseeds. To maintain this positive trend and prevent the re-establishment of illegal farms, the police plan to implement consistent patrolling and surveillance measures.
Palamu Police has declared its resolve to continue these operations until the illegal drug trade is entirely dismantled.
