Russia has advanced its defense ties with India by approving the Reciprocal Exchange of Logistic Support (reLOS) agreement through its lower house of parliament. This significant pact, signed earlier this year, formalizes procedures for exchanging troops, warships, and aircraft for joint military operations, training, and mutual aid. The agreement covers a wide array of logistical support, ensuring that both Indian and Russian forces can readily access resources such as fuel, maintenance, and supplies when operating in each other’s territories. This strategic enhancement aims to boost interoperability and streamline operations, including easier access to airspace and port facilities. The ratification precedes President Putin’s upcoming visit to India, where crucial defense discussions, including potential deals for the Su-57 stealth fighter and S-400 air defense systems, are expected to take place, reinforcing the enduring strategic partnership.
