The construction of a mosque on allegedly encroached land within the Tata Lease Area in Pardesi Pada has become a major point of contention, drawing sharp criticism from local residents. Following a community meeting, the issue has gained further traction.

This mosque has a history of objections, with previous construction phases being halted due to public outcry. However, work has now resumed with full force. Residents are asserting that the construction is taking place on land illegally occupied from the Tata Lease Area. Despite lodging complaints with the Deputy Commissioner, SDO, Sonari Police, and the Tata Land Department on November 28th, there has been a lack of decisive administrative response.

Locals are highlighting that the Pardesi Pada mosque serves a significantly larger congregation than the local population, prompting questions about where these worshippers originate. They are calling for an investigation into the attendees’ backgrounds. The continued construction, despite administrative halts, and the unexplained silence from Tata Land Department officials are central to the residents’ grievances.

Additional concerns involve allegations of infiltrators residing in the low-lying settlements of Sonari. Residents demand that the administration investigate these claims thoroughly. A protest is planned for December 10th at the Veer Manch Akhara in Pardesi Pada if authorities do not take concrete action to resolve the encroachment and construction issue by then.
