The Northern Superchargers have lost their head coach, Andrew Flintoff, due to a disagreement over contract terms with the franchise’s new Indian owners, Sun Group. Flintoff, who has guided the team for two seasons, will not be returning for the 2026 campaign of The Hundred. He confirmed that contract talks with the owners did not result in an agreement that he found satisfactory, leading him to feel undervalued despite the team’s progress. The Superchargers achieved a third-place finish in the league this year under his leadership, a notable improvement. Flintoff, also currently coaching the England Lions, candidly shared his perspective, mentioning that the financial offer from Sun Group was substantially lower than that of other head coaches in the competition. He emphasized that feeling valued is crucial, and the proposed terms did not meet this criterion. The franchise, however, has indicated they offered a higher salary to keep him. This situation opens the door for Flintoff to consider other coaching roles, and he has acknowledged receiving additional offers. Teams like the Manchester Originals and Trent Rockets are reportedly monitoring his availability for potential coaching positions.
