The Indian women’s cricket team is preparing for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup, which will be hosted in India after a decade. Jemimah Rodrigues discussed the team’s motivation, stating their goal is to win the World Cup for certain individuals who have played a significant role in the growth of women’s cricket.

India is seeking its first World Cup trophy after two runner-up finishes. The team has started the tournament strong by winning both league matches, including a victory against Pakistan.

Rodrigues explained that the team focuses on their game and creating a positive internal atmosphere, staying unaffected by outside pressures and distractions. She emphasized the importance of mutual support and celebration within the team, which strengthens their relationships.

Rodrigues, who scored 32 runs in the match against Pakistan, specified that the team wants to win for those who laid the foundation for women’s cricket. This includes players like Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, Neetu David, and all the individuals who have contributed to the sport’s current success.

Rodrigues also mentioned the challenging conditions on the pitches in Guwahati and Colombo, where the ball’s pace was affected. She acknowledged the need for the team to adjust, form partnerships, and take the game to the end. She also praised Richa’s contribution, which helped the team secure a winning score.
