Donald Trump is making a concerted effort to halt the fighting in Gaza, with a meeting planned with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to finalize a peace agreement. The former U.S. President is reportedly ready to present a peace plan that has already gained the backing of several Arab countries. This proposal, if accepted, could bring an end to the ongoing conflict. If Netanyahu declines, sources suggest that Trump is prepared to assign blame to the Israeli leader for the war’s continuation. Trump’s advisors believe that ending the war is crucial for his political standing and regional influence. The peace initiative, a 21-point plan, includes the immediate release of all hostages within 48 hours, along with the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. The conflict has resulted in more than 66,000 Palestinian deaths since October 7, 2023, with approximately 48 hostages still held by Hamas.
