India’s triumph over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 became a celebration for cricket fans globally. Among those celebrating, Sanju Samson, who delivered a notable performance, made an interesting comparison between his cricketing journey and that of actor Mohanlal. During a conversation with Sanjay Manjrekar, Samson discussed how Mohanlal, a recipient of a major award from the Indian government, has been an actor for two decades. Samson has been playing for India for a decade. Samson explained, “I can’t come in and say I want to do the ‘hero’ role every time. I can do the villain role, and I also do the Joker role for my country.” Speaking about the pressure of the India-Pakistan match, Samson told ESPN, “I really enjoyed the pressure actually. I have not played many India-Pakistan games, but today, I think the pressure was all over there. Three wickets down in the powerplay, so I just had to use my experience, calm the nerves down, and just watch the ball and react. That’s what I did, and it came off nicely. I think I had a really good partnership with Tilak, and really enjoyed playing the game today.” India faced early setbacks as key batsmen were dismissed quickly. Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson worked to stabilize the innings with a crucial partnership. Samson was eventually dismissed at 24. Shivam Dube then stepped in to form a partnership while Tilak Varma reached a half-century under immense pressure. The match saw increasing tension as India neared its target, with 24 runs needed from 14 balls. With the situation becoming more critical, 16 runs were required from 11 balls. Dube hit a six, but he was later dismissed. Then, Rinku Singh’s contributions, along with Tilak Varma’s key plays, sealed the match for India.
