Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced a major initiative to support athletes from Chhattisgarh participating in the Olympics during the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association’s annual general meeting in Raipur. The meeting, held at the Circuit House, addressed several critical items, including the approval of the 2024-25 audit report, the presentation and approval of the 2025-26 annual budget, and the selection of auditors for the upcoming year.

CM Sai stated that the Chhattisgarh government is dedicated to identifying and nurturing the state’s sporting talents. As part of this commitment, the government has reinstated the sports awards ceremony and plans to introduce an outstanding player recognition event soon.

Further, CM Sai discussed the establishment of new sports infrastructure through the Khelo India program in Chhattisgarh. He mentioned the recent visit of the Union Sports Minister, where they discussed expanding sports facilities. To encourage athletes, especially those participating in the Olympics, the government has decided to award significant financial rewards: three crore rupees for gold medalists, two crore rupees for silver medalists, and one crore rupees for bronze medalists.

He emphasized the government’s aim to increase the sports budget and involve the corporate sector. The Chief Minister also highlighted India’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games, with Ahmedabad as the proposed host city, underscoring the central government’s focus on strengthening sports infrastructure. Sai called for similar efforts at the state level to host national-level sports events.
