A monumental Durga Puja pandal has been constructed in Bilaspur, and is believed to be the largest in Chhattisgarh. Located on the Arpa River’s edge, the pandal spans 2 lakh square feet and houses an eye-catching 25-foot-tall Durga idol. This grand event is organized by the Adarsh Durgotsav Samiti based in Gondpara Subhash Nagar.
The committee is marking its 50th year. For this special occasion, the committee constructed an impressive pandal on the banks of the Arpa River, drawing inspiration from Rajasthani culture. Prior to Navratri, a ‘Jagrata’ was conducted with a performance from the famous singer Dukalu Yadav. The ‘Chunari Yatra’ and idol installation followed on the first day of Navratri.
The organizers are confident that this Durga Puja pandal is the largest in Chhattisgarh. The Navratri celebrations this year are planned like a ‘Mahakumbh,’ with extensive decorations along the Arpa River bank. A fair is also running alongside.
Visitors can see the Durga idol and enjoy performances by well-known artists for ten days. There will also be devotional songs and cultural programs. The committee has designed the event to be unique and appealing, including Rajasthani artistry and a palace-like pandal. The 2 lakh square feet pandal is beautifully designed, featuring Chhattisgarhi cultural tableaux and temple-style décor inside, attracting throngs of people.
