A 21-year-old man, Zaedan Mack Hill, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Kiran Ben Patel, a 49-year-old Gujarati woman, in South Carolina. Patel, who had lived in the US for over 20 years and ran a local store, was shot on the evening of September 16th. The police apprehended Hill following a search warrant and arrest warrant. The incident occurred as Patel was closing her store. The assailant, wearing a mask, fired multiple shots, pursuing the victim even as she attempted to escape. The shooting has raised concerns about safety and potential hate crimes. The victim’s family, residing in the UK and Canada, is coping with the loss.
