A new annual FASTag system is on the horizon, designed to benefit commercial vehicle owners. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, led by Nitin Gadkari, is working on the rollout of annual FASTag passes specifically for state transport corporation buses and privately owned commercial vehicles. As a complementary measure, the government is considering offering land at subsidized rates to groups of private bus operators to foster the development of essential facilities along national highways. These initiatives aim to enhance operational ease for commercial vehicle operators, mirroring the benefits already available to private car owners through the annual FASTag pass.
