The World Championship 2025 is set to feature a highly anticipated duel between two of the world’s best javelin throwers: Neeraj Chopra of India and Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan. The event continues the competitive spirit between the two nations, heightened by recent events that have influenced relations, including in sports. The upcoming competition adds another layer of excitement for fans worldwide.

The final will take place at the Japan National Stadium. The event promises a thrilling contest between Chopra and Nadeem. Both athletes qualified for the final with impressive performances in the qualifying rounds, exceeding 84.50 meters with their throws. This event represents the first major competition between the two since the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Chopra’s performance in the qualifying round was exceptional. He threw the javelin 84.85 meters on his first attempt, earning his place in the final. Nadeem, in Group B, faced some initial difficulties, with his first two throws falling short of the 80-meter mark. He recovered with a strong final throw of 85.28 meters to qualify.

Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem have competed against each other in 10 international events. The javelin throw competition will occur at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo, where Chopra won gold in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The final is scheduled for 3:53 PM Indian Standard Time on September 18th.
