The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning a new high-speed expressway to connect Ayodhya and Varanasi, aiming to significantly reduce travel time. The project involves the construction of a 200-km-long access-controlled expressway, with the DPR (Detailed Project Report) tender process already underway.
This project will enable travel between Ayodhya and Kashi in just two hours. It is also designed to connect with the Purvanchal Expressway, enhancing the existing road network for travel to Delhi.
Several crucial projects are being implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in Ayodhya, including the 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg, Ram-Janaki Marg (Ayodhya to Janakpur), Ayodhya-Sultanpur and Ayodhya-Jagdishpur Marg, and Ram Van Gaman Marg. Further, overbridges and underpasses are being built on the Lucknow Highway to ease passenger movement, and the Ayodhya bypass has been beautified at a cost of Rs 55 crore.
To deal with increasing city traffic, the ring road project is being fast-tracked. Additionally, the Ayodhya-Prayagraj Greenfield Access Control 6-lane highway’s first phase, up to Pratapgarh, is in the demarcation stage. Upon completion of these projects, Ayodhya is expected to emerge as a major road connectivity hub in North India, promoting religious tourism and boosting trade and industrial activities.
