The Supreme Court has declined to intervene in the upcoming India vs. Pakistan match during the 2025 Asia Cup. A petition was filed by four law students, including Ms. Urvashi Jain, requesting the court to cancel the match due to concerns about political unrest and recent national tragedies. The petitioners, invoking Article 32 of the Constitution, highlighted the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor as reasons why the match should not proceed. They contended that playing cricket with Pakistan under the current circumstances was disrespectful to the public and the armed forces. The court, however, deemed the matter of little urgency, with Justices Maheshwari and Bishnoi indicating that it was simply a sporting event. Previous attempts to organize bilateral cricket series between India and Pakistan have been unsuccessful due to diplomatic tensions. The BCCI follows government guidelines allowing matches in multi-nation tournaments.
