The railway is introducing a new Amrit Bharat train service between Chhapra and Anand Vihar, with a route that includes Gorakhpur. The Northeast Railway is actively preparing for this, building on existing special train services. The shift to the Amrit Bharat model is aimed at improving service on this key route.
The new train is scheduled to operate twice a week, connecting Chhapra and Anand Vihar. The Amrit Bharat train’s equipment has already been positioned in Chhapra. A potential inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated for September 15. This new service will benefit passengers traveling from Gorakhpur to Delhi, enhancing the travel experience for those in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, and fostering improved connectivity between the states and Delhi.
**Detailed Schedule:**
The planned route and schedule for the Chhapra-Anand Vihar Amrit Bharat service are almost finalized. Although official announcements are pending, the schedule suggests the train will depart from Chhapra at 10 PM on Mondays and Thursdays. It will then arrive in Gorakhpur at 3:15 AM the following day, with stops at Siwan, Thawe, and Kaptanganj.
From Gorakhpur, the train will depart at 3:25 AM, heading towards Anand Vihar via Aishbagh and Kanpur, arriving at 10:10 PM. On the return journey, the train will depart from Anand Vihar on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12:20 AM, and will reach Gorakhpur at 4:50 PM, traveling through Kanpur and Aishbagh. The train will reach Chhapra at 10:50 PM via Kaptanganj and Thawe.
**Current Rail Services:**
Currently, there are already four Amrit Bharat trains running for Bihar via Gorakhpur. The 14048/14047 Amrit Bharat will operate between Delhi and Sitamarhi once a week from August 9th, the Gomtinagar-Darbhanga weekly Amrit Bharat (5561/15562) has been running since July 26, and the Bapudham Motihari-Anand Vihar Terminal Amrit Bharat Weekly Express (15567/15568) has been in service since July 29.
Furthermore, the 15557/15558 Amrit Bharat train runs from Anand Vihar to Darbhanga, including stops at Ayodhya and Gorakhpur. The introduction of the new Amrit Bharat train from Chhapra will simplify travel for people from Chhapra, Siwan, Thawe, and adjacent areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
