Shantanu Modak, a resident of Bangoi village in the Bodam block of East Singhbhum, Jharkhand, has been awarded a one-crore rupee scholarship by the Jharkhand government. This significant financial support will allow him to pursue his master’s degree in London at Imperial College and Warwick Business School. His journey from a small village to a prestigious university in London is an inspiration to many.

Shantanu’s father, Nirmal Modak, a farmer, has always encouraged his son’s education, even selling a part of his land to support his studies. Shantanu’s academic achievements include passing his matriculation exam from a high school in Bodam, followed by a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and an M.Tech from NIT Durgapur. He also cleared the scientific exams for BARC and ISRO. Shantanu then worked as a faculty member in engineering colleges. Now, with the help of the ‘Overseas Scholarship’ scheme of the Jharkhand government, he will be pursuing his dream of global recognition.
