An intriguing situation has arisen in Motihari, Bihar, where the police’s claims are contradicted by the facts. The police have been presenting Purushottam Kumar as a fugitive, leading to court orders for property seizure. However, human rights advocate S.K. Jha has uncovered that Kumar is employed at the SSB office in Muzaffarpur. This matter concerns the 3-year-old Suresh Singh Mastan murder case in Kundwa Chainpur, where ten individuals were accused. The Motihari court has already delivered life sentences to five of the accused.

Despite police reports stating that Purushottam Kumar was untraceable, Advocate Jha’s investigation revealed his employment and regular salary at the SSB DIG office. Information about this has been provided to authorities including the Bihar State Human Rights Commission and the Central Home Ministry, seeking appropriate action. The complainant, Harendra Singh, has reported the lack of action from local police in the case. The police are accused of protecting the accused.
