Palamu Police in Jharkhand were involved in a deadly encounter with Naxals following a tip-off about TSPC commander Shashikant Ganjhu. The police, acting on the information, launched an operation in the Manatu police station area. The commander, carrying a bounty of 10 lakhs, was reportedly at his residence in Kadel village to observe the Karma festival.
A gun battle erupted as the police surrounded his house. Two police officers, Sunil Ram and Santan Mehta, lost their lives in the encounter, while another officer, Rohit Kumar, was injured. The injured officer is undergoing treatment at Mediniray Medical College and Hospital. Authorities have intensified search operations and sealed off the area following the tragic incident.
