Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch a new compact SUV for the Indian market on September 3. The new model aims to challenge the dominance of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. Positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara, the SUV will be built on Suzuki’s Global C platform, mirroring the Grand Vitara’s dimensions. Exterior design details include updated DRL headlamps, headlights, and a distinctive high-set hoodline. Multiple engine options are planned, including the K15C 1.5-litre mild-hybrid engine, which could produce approximately 101hp and 137 NM of torque. A CNG powertrain variant is also anticipated, offering around 86hp and 121.5Nm of torque. The potential for a 1.5-litre strong hybrid electric powertrain, borrowed from the Grand Vitara, is also under consideration. The petrol-only version is likely to be offered with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid model may include an eCVT automatic. To enhance safety, Level 2 ADAS features are expected in the top-end trims, complemented by six airbags and active safety technologies like ABS, EBD, and ESC. In terms of features, the SUV is expected to have premium highlights, including digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and ventilated front seats.
