Director Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Nishaanchi’ is gearing up for its theatrical release. The teaser has generated significant buzz. Kashyap has now shared a previously unknown aspect of the project, revealing his initial desire to work with Sushant Singh Rajput on the film. This collaboration, however, never came to fruition. Several actors were keen on the script, but the movie’s journey has been long, with the release scheduled nearly a decade after it was first announced. Kashyap shed light on the situation.
In an interview, Kashyap recounted his initial plan to make ‘Nishaanchi’ with Sushant Singh Rajput. However, Rajput’s involvement in major projects like ‘Dil Bechara’ and ‘Drive’, produced by Dharma Productions, shifted the focus. ‘My film wasn’t a priority anymore,’ Kashyap stated. ‘I also stepped back, and Sushant stopped responding. So, I moved on. I had announced this film with him back in 2016.’
He further added that many actors had read the ‘Nishaanchi’ script, and there was considerable interest in the project. However, no collaborations materialized.
‘Nishaanchi’ is slated for a September 19, 2025, release. The film’s plot revolves around twin brothers with contrasting personalities, exploring themes of love, camaraderie, and vengeance. It examines the various facets of human behavior and their effects. The film stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, along with a talented ensemble.
