Heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir has led to a catastrophic landslide on the route to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Visitors on the Trikuta hills are facing immediate danger due to the unrelenting precipitation. As a result of the landslide near the Vaishno Devi shrine, nearly 30 people have died, and approximately 14 others have been injured. Several devotees are currently trapped in the affected area, unable to move due to the landslip. The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to close all educational institutions and offices, except for those providing essential services and maintaining law and order, due to the severe weather conditions. The Met Department has predicted very heavy rainfall in the Jammu division for the next 40 hours. The Basantar, Tawi, and Chenab rivers are experiencing dangerously high water levels, causing anxiety among local communities.
