Adding to the surprise, the AIFF had initially declared Churchill Brothers Club of Goa as the winner before the decision by the top international court. This club has not yet returned the winner’s trophy to the Federation. The Football Federation stated that they gave the trophy to Churchill Brothers when they were declared the winner, but it hasn’t been returned. Inter Kashi’s president, Prithijit, said, “Winning the title is a great opportunity for football in UP. If we get the trophy while doing the event, a different message will go to the young footballers here. Inter Kashi winning the I-League can bring a big change in UP football, but despite being the winner, we are not able to celebrate the victory. We hope that we get the trophy soon and we can celebrate it properly.”
