The ‘Cinema Dialogue’ event, organized by the Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation, provided a platform for Bharat Sharma Vyas, an acclaimed folk singer, to discuss the issue of obscenity in Bhojpuri songs. Vyas highlighted that the vulgarity is the reason for the declining reputation of Bhojpuri music. He contrasted the current scenario with the past, where Bhojpuri songs were free from such objectionable content. According to him, singers, listeners, and those providing platforms are equally responsible for this degradation. He called for action against singers producing obscene songs and encouraged listeners to stop supporting them. Vyas pointed out the difference in the creative process now, where the focus is on incorporating objectionable words for views, instead of good lyrics. He shared his observation that attempts to introduce vulgarity in the 90s were unsuccessful, with those singers fading away. At the event, Nand Kumar Tiwari, known for his views on double-meaning Bhojpuri songs, also spoke about the need for artists and writers to take an oath to avoid creating or performing such songs. Ruby, the General Manager of the Film Corporation, spoke about promoting the rich tradition of classical and folk music. Dr. Ajay, the District Public Relations Officer, stated that good music attracts both audience and financial benefits. Shri Arvind Ranjan Das, film consultant, mentioned the negative impact of obscene songs on the entertainment world of Bihar and stressed the need for measures to revive healthy music traditions. The discussion aimed to explore solutions to help the Bhojpuri music and film industry restore its lost prestige.

Bharat Sharma Vyas was born in Buxar district, Bihar, in 1957. He is celebrated as Bhojpuri Samrat for his contributions. He inherited his classical music knowledge from his father. His singing career began in 1971 at the age of 14, starting with the singing of Ramayana verses. His musical journey continues for five decades. His first audio cassette was released in 1989. Vyas is known for popular Bhojpuri songs and is admired in several countries.
