On the special day of Janmashtami, Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual head of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, offered prayers and blessings from the Akshardham Temple in New Delhi. He spoke about the importance of Lord Krishna’s life and teachings. Swami Maharaj believes that the significance of Janmashtami is realized when the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita are put into practice.

He recalled Lord Krishna’s compassion and devotion towards his devotees. He mentioned how Krishna drove Arjuna’s chariot, protected Draupadi’s modesty, and accepted offerings from his devotees. Swami Maharaj pointed out that the Bhagavad Gita is filled with such stories of Krishna’s life.

Swami Maharaj emphasized that the Bhagavad Gita is the greatest gift of Lord Krishna to the world, and its knowledge is beneficial for all. He stated that by living according to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, one can always experience the presence of God. Ultimately, Swami Maharaj said that celebrating Janmashtami is only truly meaningful when we understand and apply the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita in our daily lives.
