Chief Minister Nitish Kumar engaged in a public discussion to highlight the success of the free electricity program in Bihar. He outlined the improvements in the power sector since 2005, including the expansion of the energy budget and extension of electricity to all villages. Kumar mentioned the fulfillment of the ‘Har Ghar Bijli’ scheme by 2018. A key announcement was the implementation of 125 free electricity units per month for every household, effective from July, impacting 1.89 crore domestic consumers. The government is also promoting solar energy, with installations on government buildings and encouraging domestic users to adopt solar power. The event included testimonials from residents like Komal Kumari and Leela Kumari, who shared how the free electricity has benefited their families. Gudiya Khatoon and Noorjahan Khatoon also expressed gratitude, noting the positive impact on their households.
