A fatal road accident in Bilaspur claimed the life of a five-month pregnant woman. The accident involved a government vehicle, and the woman’s husband and two children were also injured in the collision. The driver fled the scene after the incident. Local residents located the vehicle and handed it over to the police, requesting that action be taken. The accident happened on August 9th, Raksha Bandhan, near Turkadhi, under the Koni police station area. Sumit Suryavanshi, from Devri village, was traveling with his wife Hemlata, their daughter Minti (7), and son Rishu (10) to Semartal to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. Hemlata was going to tie rakhis to her brothers. However, a fast-moving government vehicle struck their motorcycle from behind. The impact caused Hemlata’s instant death, while Sumit and the children suffered severe injuries. The vehicle is reportedly the official vehicle of SDM Richa Chandrakar of Pendra Road. The villagers found the vehicle and took it to the police station. The police have registered an FIR and are investigating the case. The driver has been identified, and the police will take strict action. Rishu is currently hospitalized at SIMS, and his sister has been released. The husband is also receiving treatment. Family and local residents are protesting the incident and demanding severe penalties for the responsible parties.
