Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Ajinkya Naik shared an interesting story regarding Yashasvi Jaiswal’s initial desire to leave Mumbai cricket and join Goa. The president revealed that Rohit Sharma played a pivotal role in convincing Jaiswal to stay in Mumbai. Jaiswal had previously sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC), indicating his intention to switch teams.
Months later, Jaiswal decided to continue playing for Mumbai. Naik provided insights into the reasons behind this change of heart. Rohit Sharma emphasized to Jaiswal the significance of representing Mumbai, a team renowned for its rich legacy of 42 Ranji Trophy wins. Sharma pointed out that Mumbai had given Jaiswal the platform to flourish and progress to the national team.
After consulting with Rohit and other veteran cricketers, Jaiswal withdrew his NOC request, which the MCA then approved. Jaiswal was recently part of the five-match Test series against England, where he scored a total of 411 runs at an average of 41.10, including two impressive centuries.
