    Satyapal Malik, the former governor, has passed away. He was 78 years old at the time of his death. Malik, who had been suffering from a long-term illness, died on August 5th at RML Hospital. He was formerly a leading member of the BJP but later became a critic. Since May 2025, he had been receiving treatment at Delhi’s Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where his health was critical. His passing has triggered an outpouring of grief throughout the country. He was admitted to the ICU due to complications from a severe urinary tract infection and kidney failure. The hospital announced his death this afternoon. Shibu Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, also died in Delhi on Monday at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
