BSNL has launched the ‘Azadi ka Plan’ targeting the competition of private companies like Jio, Vi, and Airtel. This initiative is designed to offer consumers a budget-friendly option, with a price of just Re. 1. The plan encompasses data, voice calls, SMS, and even a free SIM card.
The company has promoted the plan on its social media platform, X, emphasizing the potential for digital freedom that comes with it. The Rs. 1 plan includes 2GB of high-speed data, unlimited voice calls, and 100 SMS messages every day. Although this plan is valid for 30 days, the offer is only available between August 1 and August 31.
To benefit from this exclusive offer, customers can visit a BSNL customer service center or any BSNL retailer. The promotion started before Independence Day and will be available for the entire month of August. Currently, Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea have not presented a similar offering, but it’s likely that these private companies may introduce their own promotional deals soon.
As per TRAI data, BSNL experienced a loss of 305,766 wireless subscribers by June 30, 2025, which brought the total user base down to 90,464,244, with 29,822,407 subscribers in rural areas.
