The Prime Minister has praised Om Prakash Sahu for his remarkable journey from violence to aquaculture. Sahu’s story, shared on the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program, highlights how he abandoned a life of conflict to embrace fish farming, generating income and employment. Under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana’, Sahu received training and support from the district administration, which allowed him to establish and expand his fish farming operations. This initiative has brought about a significant change in the Basia area of Gumla, where over 150 families have transitioned from violence to fish farming. The switch has provided them with a sustainable livelihood, with the income from fish farming surpassing traditional farming methods.
