Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has said that the state government is fully committed to providing nutrition to the children and a safe and bright future for them. The Women and Child Development Department and the Health Department will have to work together in coordination with each other for the proper development of children.

Chief Minister Shri Sai today reviewed the progress and implementation of the schemes of the Women and Child Development Department at a high level in the Ministry Mahanadi Bhawan and gave important instructions to the officers. He said that regular monitoring of schemes focused on women and children should be done at the district level from the secretary level and a thorough review of this will be done in the upcoming Collector’s Conference.

Chief Minister Shri Sai took information about the basic structure, budget and schemes being run by the Women and Child Development Department in the meeting. He said that the department plays a very important role from the point of view of nutrition and safety of children, adolescents and women. He also said that the more sensitively and efficiently the care and nutrition of young children is done, the more effective and robust their physical and mental development will be.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that children are the foundation of the future of our country and the participation of all is necessary to strengthen this foundation. He directed the departmental staff to work with activism and self-motivation at the ground level. He emphasized on ensuring that every child of the state gets the proper benefit of supplementary nutrition and departmental schemes.
He discussed in detail various points including the nutritional food distributed in Anganwadi centers, hot meals, its quantity, quality and calorie standards and told the need for continuous monitoring of the distribution process.

Chief Minister Shri Sai took information about the operation of 197 Anganwadi centers being run under the PM Janman Yojana and directed to work with sensitivity and commitment for the overall development of children of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) community.

Chief Minister Shri Sai, while reviewing the important indicators related to the nutrition of children, said that solid efforts should be made to bring about the desired improvements. He said that assessment of the real situation is possible through the indicators, and wherever deficiencies are seen, prompt corrective steps should be taken.

The Chief Minister, while expressing happiness over the better performance in the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, directed that this progress should continue in the same manner. He said that small things and behavior have a deep impact on the mental development of children, so Anganwadi workers should create an emotional bond with the children with sensitivity.
