In response to the BJP’s fact-finding committee’s visit to Kolkata to investigate the alleged gang rape of a law student, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh has voiced strong criticism. Ghosh accused the BJP of engaging in ‘political tourism’ and a ‘gimmick,’ highlighting the party’s perceived inaction on crimes against women in several other states. He questioned the timing and purpose of the BJP’s intervention, given that the police had already taken action and the investigation was underway. Ghosh also criticized the BJP for approaching the High Court, suggesting it was done to gain media coverage, and emphasized the victim’s family’s trust in the ongoing police investigation.
