Veterinary officials in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, euthanized two mares after they tested positive for Glanders. The mares, of the Sanjal breed, received lethal injections following established procedures. Their bodies were buried in Bhittikla. Glanders is a serious disease affecting equines and, potentially, humans. The owner of the affected mares, a resident of Nawapara, also kept horses for ceremonial purposes. The decision to euthanize followed multiple tests. Authorities have imposed a three-month ban on the entry of equine animals in the area.
