Following allegations of gangrape in Kolkata, BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh has strongly condemned the incident and demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Ghosh stated that the case highlights the character of the TMC and its attitude towards women, blaming Banerjee for the increasing incidents of violence against women in the state. He criticized what he perceived as the CM’s lenient approach to such crimes, which he believes allows criminals to operate with impunity. Ghosh also criticized comments made by TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee regarding the incident. The police have apprehended three individuals allegedly involved in the gangrape, which took place at the South Calcutta Law College in Kolkata.
