The BJP is spearheading a campaign to posthumously award the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, to Swami Sahajanand Saraswati. Concurrently, the party is advocating for the renaming of the Bihta Airport in Patna to honor the revered figure. These initiatives were announced at a commemorative event held at the BIA Hall in Patna, marking the death anniversary of Swami Sahajanand Saraswati. Ravindra Ranjan, the president of the Swami Sahajanand Kisan Vahini and a prominent BJP member, presided over the event. Dr. Dilip Jaiswal, the BJP state president, inaugurated the ceremony, underscoring the enduring impact of Swami Sahajanand’s work. Jaiswal highlighted Sahajanand’s pivotal role in organizing farmers on a national platform, which subsequently integrated them into the core of Indian politics. He also credited Sahajanand for his contribution to the abolition of the Zamindari system and his lifelong fight for the rights of the marginalized. Ravindra Ranjan reiterated calls for declaring either his birth or death anniversary as National Farmers Day and called for inclusion of his ideas in school textbooks and the establishment of an agricultural university in his name. Ranjan also mentioned that followers of Swami Sahajanand are firmly behind the BJP.
