Harpal Singh Cheema, a Punjab Minister, addressed the recent developments surrounding the arrest of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia, reiterating the government’s commitment to tackling the drug problem in Punjab. He stated the AAP government would take strict action against anyone involved in the drug trade.

Cheema emphasized the ongoing ‘Yudh Nashe Ke Viruddh’ campaign and criticized the previous administrations for failing to address the issue, which he said contributed to widespread drug addiction. He affirmed that the law applies to everyone and vowed to rid Punjab of drugs.

Following the raids at Majithia’s residence, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau took him into custody. Ganieve Kaur Majithia, the SAD MLA and his wife, described the entry of numerous individuals into their home without proper warrants, further stating that the matter is still under investigation and thanked SAD supporters for their support.
