Meta and Oakley have joined forces to release the Oakley Meta HSTN smart glasses, retailing at $499. The limited edition will be available on July 11, followed by more models later this summer, starting at $399. Like the previous Meta Ray-Bans, the new glasses integrate a front-facing camera, open-ear speakers, and microphones. The Oakley Meta HSTN targets athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, with an IPX4 waterproof rating and an 8-hour battery life, extendable to 48 hours with the charging case. Key features include 3K video recording, voice control with Meta AI, and real-time visual recognition. The glasses allow users to listen to music, receive calls and communicate with Meta AI hands-free. The upgraded onboard camera and audio sensors allow Meta AI to describe surroundings and translate languages. They are available in multiple frame/lens combinations, including options for prescription lenses, and a special edition with gold accents and Oakley’s PRIZM gold lenses. The smart glasses will be launched in over 15 countries.
