The first Test of the five-match series between India and England is scheduled to begin on June 20 at Headingley. This series sees a new era for Indian cricket with Shubman Gill taking the captaincy, replacing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Rishabh Pant will serve as his vice-captain. The series also signifies the commencement of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle for both India and England.

The selection of Ravindra Jadeja remains a major talking point. His exceptional form in Test cricket, highlighted by a recent century in England, positions him as a potential choice over Washington Sundar.

The match venue is Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds, England, with the start time set for 3:30 pm IST.

England Squad: Ben Stokes (C), Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Cook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith (wk), Josh Tongue, and Chris Woakes.

India Squad: Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (wk/vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav.
