Gatka, a traditional martial art, has been officially added to the Pythian Cultural Games, paving the way for international Gatka competitions. These competitions, involving teams from around the world, will take place in Moscow next year. The announcement was made by Bijender Goel, Chairman of the Pythian Council of India, at the 12th National Gatka Championship in New Delhi. Goel pledged support to the World Gatka Federation, Asian Gatka Federation and National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) to foster the global recognition of this art. Shantanu Agrahari, President of the Pythian Council, spoke about the Pythian Games’ vision during the event. Delhi MLA Jarnail Singh recognized Gatka’s potential as a sport and form of self-defense, encouraging both boys and girls to learn it. Dr. Tejinderpal Singh Nalwa, President of the Asian Gatka Federation, and Harjeet Singh Grewal, President of NGAI, celebrated the inclusion of Gatka in the Pythian Games, further solidifying its place in the sports landscape.
