A somber atmosphere enveloped the cricketing world on June 12th following the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, which resulted in the loss of approximately 242 lives. The flight was scheduled to travel from Ahmedabad Airport to London Gatwick Airport. During the 2025 WTC Final at Lord’s, the match between Australia and South Africa was momentarily paused as a minute of silence was observed to honor the victims of the disaster. Australian players Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon were at the crease as the third day’s play began. Players from both competing teams wore black armbands as a gesture of mourning.
