Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh is setting a benchmark in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), transforming the lives of thousands and providing them with secure, permanent housing. The district’s exceptional performance has resulted in the completion of over 20,000 houses in the 2024-25 fiscal year, a testament to the effectiveness of the mission-mode approach adopted. This achievement symbolizes the fulfillment of dreams for numerous families previously living in challenging circumstances.

The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana aims to ensure that every citizen has a safe and dignified place to live. The Raigarh district administration, guided by Collector Shri Mayank Chaturvedi and under the continuous supervision of District Panchayat CEO Shri Jitendra Yadav, has worked diligently to make this a reality. The district has successfully completed the construction of 20,067 houses, providing permanent homes for families who previously resided in unsafe and temporary dwellings. This initiative not only provides housing but also fosters a sense of pride and belonging within the community.

A total of 52,226 houses were approved for construction in the district during the 2024-25 period, with geo-tagging of the plinth level completed for 40,152 houses. Furthermore, 38,446 beneficiaries have received their second installment, ensuring continuous progress and timely completion of projects. The success in Raigarh is a direct result of the dedicated efforts in the field. CEO Shri Jitendra Yadav emphasized that regular field visits, ongoing communication with beneficiaries, and rapid solutions to any problems were key to the program’s success. Timely installment payments, technical support, and guidance on construction have also played a crucial role in maintaining the beneficiaries’ enthusiasm.

The joy of having their own homes is clearly visible in the eyes of the beneficiaries. Families share how their lives have been positively transformed by the secure and permanent housing, replacing the hardships of living in temporary shelters. The positive impact is felt in education, family life, and overall well-being. Raigarh is now a source of inspiration for other districts within the state, demonstrating that with collaborative effort, strategic implementation, and community involvement, any objective is attainable.
