The recent Ahmedabad plane crash, which resulted in the tragic loss of 241 lives, has a single survivor: Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, who was seated in seat 11A. Despite the preference of many travelers to avoid such seats, it is possible that seat 11A saved his life. Passengers often avoid seats in the middle of the plane, like 11A and 11F, as they are the last to deboard. They can also have limited views. Ramesh, a British citizen, was on his way to see family when the Boeing 787 Dreamliner went down. His brother was seated elsewhere. Ramesh recalled the immediate aftermath, with bodies scattered around and his escape to safety. The Air India flight AI-171, en route to London, crashed shortly after takeoff, impacting BJ Medical College and Hospital. Ramesh, who sustained injuries, is currently recovering at Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, with initial reports focusing on engine failure or a bird strike. This is the first major incident for the Dreamliner aircraft.
