Authorities in Dhanbad have cracked down on an illegal alcohol operation, seizing a large quantity of liquor in the Nirsa sub-division. The joint operation, targeting the Chirakunda and Kalubathan areas, took place late Wednesday night. Police seized significant amounts of both domestic and foreign-made alcohol during the raids. In connection with the operation, two alcohol smugglers were arrested, and authorities are currently pursuing additional suspects. The Nirsa SDPO, Rajat Manik Bakhla, briefed the press on Thursday at the Maithan office regarding the actions taken. The SDPO stated that the raids were carried out under the direction of senior police officials as part of an ongoing effort to combat the illegal manufacturing and sale of alcohol. A raid in Kathardih village, under Kalubathan OP, resulted in the recovery of a large alcohol stash from Raghunath Tudu’s house. An individual named Mangal Tudu, who was selling the alcohol, was apprehended. He has provided information that is now being followed up on by police. A separate raid on a hotel near the Juncunder Phatak vegetable market in the Chirakunda police station area led to the seizure of a large quantity of both foreign and Indian-made liquor. Despite attempting to escape, the hotel owner was apprehended. The arrested individuals now face charges under relevant laws and have been remanded to judicial custody. The SDPO confirmed that similar operations would be ongoing, and that anyone involved in the illegal alcohol trade would be held accountable.
