North India is experiencing an intense heatwave, with many areas facing dangerously high temperatures. The IMD has issued a Red Alert for Delhi, effective June 12, 2025, indicating extreme heat conditions. The heatwave is also impacting Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Jammu-Kashmir, with predictions of continued high temperatures from June 12th to 14th. Health officials are monitoring a rise in heat-related illnesses. Himachal Pradesh and West & East Rajasthan are also affected, while West Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh are expected to face hot and humid weather. The recent cooler May has been followed by a dry June, contributing to the current heatwave’s severity.
